The release amount of the rubber gasket of ordinary hinges is as high as 540 μg/m³. This feature is suitable for use in places where air quality is stringent, such as car interior parts, baby room furniture, and space station experimental cabinets.

These hinges deposit a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on a stainless steel substrate to significantly increase surface hardness and withstand the wiping and abrasion of daily maintenance. The Vickers hardness of DLC coating reaches 3200 HV, while uncoated stainless steel is only 200 HV. After 1,000 reciprocating frictions with steel wool (load 500 grams), there were only very slight scratches on the surface of the coating, and the gloss retention rate was 92%; the surface of the uncoated sample showed obvious wear and tear, and the gloss retention rate was less than 30%. This hinge is suitable for public facilities such as subway gates and vending machine doors that are cleaned frequently.
