Piano fallboard hinge is specially designed for connecting the keyboard covers of upright pianos and grand pianos. The main body is made of 304 stainless steel and is precision stamped. The surface is brushed and has both rust resistance and aesthetics. Compared with traditional iron chrome-plated hinges, stainless steel materials can effectively resist corrosion caused by hand sweat and humid environments, and are especially suitable for use in coastal areas. The hinge can withstand 72 hours without red rust, ensuring smooth opening and closing even after long-term use. Each hinge is equipped with four countersunk screw holes as standard, with a thickness of 2.0 mm. Its pressure-bearing capacity is about 40% higher than that of conventional 1.2 mm products, providing reliable rigid support for daily practice and teaching pianos that frequently flip the lid.
In piano assembly, the fatigue life of the key cover hinge directly affects the playing experience. This product has been verified by continuous opening and closing of a professional fatigue testing machine. It can maintain a gap of less than 0.1 mm after 100,000 cycles without looseness or abnormal sound, far exceeding the industry's basic requirement of 50,000 cycles. In addition, the hinge shaft core is made of finely ground stainless steel rods and is matched with self-lubricating washers, which not only eliminates the maintenance trouble of regularly adding lubricating oil, but also avoids contamination of the keys due to friction dust. It has been measured that a single hinge can safely bear a static load of up to 30 kg, completely covering the weight range of solid wood or medium-density fiberboard key covers.

Advantages

Built-in slow descent damping
- The Piano Fallboard Hinge integrates a micro hydraulic damper. When the key cover falls back from the open state, it will automatically close at a slow speed of about 3-5 seconds. Ordinary piano hinges (such as long strip hinges) do not have this damping function. Once the key cover is lost, it will fall directly, which can easily pinch the player's fingers or hit the keys and cause mechanical damage. This design makes piano teaching places and families safer, especially protecting children from accidental risks when practicing.
Prevent accidental sliding
- The hinge is equipped with a mechanical limit stop point at the 90° opening position. The key cover will be reliably locked at the angle after it is opened, and will not slip off due to vibration of the piano body or accidental touch. Ordinary piano hinges only provide rotational freedom, and the keycaps tend to fall slowly when tilted or vibrated, interfering with normal performance or even causing danger. The parking function of this hinge allows your hands to be completely free when tuning, cleaning or placing music scores, making the operation more relaxed.


Zero protrusion embedded design
- This hinge adopts a sunken installation structure. When closed, the top surface of the hinge is completely flush with the surface of the key cover and keyboard frame, without any screw heads or hinge edges being exposed. Ordinary piano hinges have thick blades and convex screws. When playing, the wrist frequently crosses the edge of the key cover and is easily scratched or caught on the sleeve. This flush design is especially suitable for long-term practice and fast arpeggio playing, eliminating physical interference and improving playing comfort.
Fully enclosed dustproof bushing
- Both sides of the hinge shaft are equipped with sealed dust rings, which can completely isolate chalk shavings, dust, hair, etc. that fall from the gaps between the keys from the shaft cavity. The shaft core of ordinary open piano hinges is directly exposed. When particles enter, it will accelerate wear and produce abnormal noise, and it cannot be cleaned. The sealing structure of this hinge increases the opening and closing life to more than 100,000 times while still keeping it quiet and smooth, eliminating the trouble of regular disassembly, cleaning and maintenance. It is especially suitable for dusty environments such as classrooms and rehearsal halls.
