Blue Zinc Plating Metalwork

JOYEAR METALWORK offers high-precision blue zinc plating for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous substrates, with a standard process capability that consistently achieves a coating thickness of approximately 8 microns (0.00031 inches). While our baseline service is qualified to performance class 8 under the ISO fastener grading system (equivalent to SAE J429 Grade 8), we support fully customized mechanical property requirements across the entire strength spectrum.

 

For customers needing higher load-bearing capacity, we routinely supply blue zinc plated components rated to 8.8, 10.9, and even 12.9 (ISO 898-1), which correspond to SAE J429 Grade 8.8, Grade 9.8, and ASTM A574 alloy steel socket-head cap screw grades respectively.

 

For lighter-duty applications, we also offer 4.8 and 6.8 grade options (ISO 898-1 / SAE J429 Grade 5 equivalence). All plating processes are strictly bath-controlled to ensure uniform deposit distribution, excellent adhesion, and the characteristic bright blue-passivated finish that provides both enhanced corrosion resistance and aesthetic consistency.

 

 

 

 

 

Beyond coating thickness, JOYEAR METALWORK provides complete flexibility in base material selection to suit various performance and budget requirements. Our standard economical choice is carbon steel (equivalent to EN 10083 grades in Europe, and SAE 10xx / AISI 10xx series in the U.S.), which offers good strength at lower cost. For extended service life and superior corrosion resistance in aggressive environments, we recommend stainless steel – available in EN 1.4301 (AISI 304) and EN 1.4401 (AISI 316) equivalents – which is the most cost-effective long-term solution.  We also process brass alloys (e.g., CW614N / C36000), aluminium alloys (e.g., EN AW-6082 / AA 6061), and other specialty metals upon request.

 

Coating thickness is fully adjustable: while our 8‑micron (8 μm) standard meets ISO 2081 and ASTM B633 service condition requirements, we can tailor thickness from 5 μm up to 20 μm (0.0002–0.0008 inches) to satisfy specific salt-spray hours or dimensional tolerance needs. All blue zinc plating is performed with trivalent or hexavalent chromium passivation options, complying with RoHS and REACH regulations, and we test each batch against ISO 9227 (neutral salt spray) and ASTM B117 standards to guarantee consistent quality.

Design and Make tooling according to the confirmed drawing, do the modification if needed while testing.

 

 

 

Make first samples and inspect them according to the drawing strictly.

Send to the customer for approval after internal approval.

 

 

 

Strictly produce the goods as per the drawings and first samples.
