Low carbon steel washers have excellent cold forming properties because their carbon content is less than 0.25%. During the continuous high-speed stamping process, the wear of the material on the mold is significantly lower than that of medium and high carbon steel or alloy steel. According to the mold wear comparison test, after punching the same number of washers, the edge wear of the low-carbon steel stamping mold is only 80% of that of the medium-carbon steel working condition, which means that the mold life can be extended by about 20,000 punches, significantly reducing the frequency of mold grinding and downtime in mass production. At the same time, the grains of this material are evenly refined after spheroidizing annealing, and the hardness fluctuation range is controlled within plus or minus eight HV, ensuring that the blanking section is smooth and free of tear bands. With the precise control of the mold gap, the dimensional accuracy of the inner and outer diameters of the gaskets is stabilized within the IT10 level tolerance, which provides a stable quality basis for subsequent automated sorting and packaging processes.

 

 

In terms of mechanical response characteristics, low carbon steel washers have good toughness and impact absorption capabilities. According to the Charpy impact test, their room temperature impact absorption capacity can reach more than 25 joules, which is much higher than that of high carbon steel or hardened washers. This allows the washers to absorb energy through trace plastic deformation when subjected to sudden impact or vibration loads, avoiding brittle fracture and secondary damage to the connection pair. For dynamic working conditions, a low carbon steel washer was matched with a bolt with a strength grade not exceeding 8.8. After 80,000 cycles on a transverse vibration table with an amplitude of three millimeters and a frequency of 15 Hz, the preload force attenuation rate was measured to be 12%, which is better than the 18% of ordinary hardened washers of the same specification, because the moderate elastic following effect compensates for the fretting wear gap of the thread pair. In addition, if the surface of this gasket is mechanically galvanized, the thickness of the coating can be controlled to eight to twelve microns without the risk of hydrogen embrittlement. It is suitable for assisting high-strength bolt connections that are sensitive to delayed fracture, and all its materials can be 100% recycled and reused through conventional steelmaking processes, which meets the basic requirements of green manufacturing and circular economy.
