Extremely low thermal expansion coefficient
Molybdenum has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. Approximately 5.4 x 10⁻⁶/K (20-500°C range). This value is only one-third that of ordinary steel.
Therefore, the dimensions of molybdenum bolts remain almost unchanged when the temperature changes drastically. It can effectively reduce the thermal stress generated when joining different materials.
This prevents components from becoming deformed or damaged. This property is critical in optical systems and semiconductor devices.
Excellent Thermal Conductivity
Molybdenum conducts heat very effectively. It has a high thermal conductivity of approximately 138 W/(m·K) at room temperature. This property gives it a clear advantage over many alloy steels.

Excellent strength-to-weight ratio
Although molybdenum is denser, its extremely high strength results in an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Its room temperature specific strength is superior to many high temperature alloys.
In the aerospace field, when a component needs to operate above 800°C and space is limited, using a small-sized molybdenum bolt can provide the same connection strength as a larger, heavier superalloy component, thereby enabling a lightweight design of the system, which is critical for the thrust-to-weight ratio and payload of the aircraft.
